Brotherhood: A Cinematic Musical
SUMMARY
As immigrant families across the United States face uncertainty and fear, and as America grapples amid a sea of misinformation and misrepresentation of Christian values, Brotherhood issues a call to every American to reconsider the message of one of our most beloved patriotic anthems:
America, America, God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea
Brotherhood tells the story of two next-door neighbors. One, a white US citizen. The other, a Mexican immigrant stuck in a more than a decade-long holding pattern awaiting progress of his US asylum application. The plot follows the experiences of the two men and their families as they navigate the difficulties of 2025 and are awakened to a deeper sense of what it means to be American and to love thy neighbor as thyself (Matt. 22:39).
Rather than offering easy answers to the deep societal issues we face, through its character’s experiences, the film presents many questions, challenging viewers to see themselves in the narrative and to examine their own perspectives and beliefs about what is right. The project is intended as an agent of self-reflection, inviting audiences, through a powerful, music-driven experience, to question what America means to them and how their beliefs drive their actions.
